We have had this bottle since buying from woot.wine. A fruity with floral rose…decent body. Serve chilled.
Simple red wine with a cheap price tag.
Bitter, young yet drinkable. Paired with prosciutto and arugula.
If you love wine and you really want to learn what it takes to know wine; you will love this film. theSeattleCook was invited to a per-screening of this documentary and since Ash was busy I took my Dad <– he enjoys wine. SOMM is about 4 wine students who obsess, drink and learn everything they can about wine before taking the Master Sommelier course. They (wine students) are a rare breed of crazy, easy going, arrogant and driven in a quest to pass the ultimate test of becoming a Master Sommelier (less than 200) as of filming (you’ll see what happens next 🙂 The movie inspired us to basically drink more wine and maybe one day take the entry level test. How cool…
This wine felt like a lot of alcohol however still seemed to sip well throughout dinner. Great color with a moderate intensity on the nose. Simple pleasure.
Lately I have been loving Barolo in Seattle. I went late night a couple weeks ago with some people from our building and just fell in love with their Calamari Pasta…a light, cooked to perfection pasta dish. I have been back about 6x since. In addition to our 365 wine challenge we have been trying to learn pairing the wines we are drinking with food. I thought I would attempt a take on the Calamari Pasta. After work, I walked over to Whole Foods South Lake Union to pick up some calamari from my fish monger Devon. I like the price of the squid rings/ tentacles at about $7 a pound its cheaper than all other sea foods (even though sockeye is in season…

During a quick weekend trip for my little brother’s birthday in Leavenworth, WA we ran across the Voodoo by Elevage Wine Company tasting room. They said their label glowed in the dark and that their Viognier was red. I enjoyed my tasting and bought the bottle home for Ash. We opened today and sat out on the back patio of the building. A great white wine that is actually red. To us the Viognier was a perfect blend of smooth with buttery with refreshing characteristics. Good wine. Fun times.
One of our favorite wines of this 365 challenge. We found the wine had a great balance of smooth with a fruit forward feel. The wine was a simple pleasure.
Sipped this late harvest Zin last night brought over by my older brother from Tri-Cities. At first I thought what an amazing zin very sweet…then I looked at the label and saw it was a late harvest so naturally slightly sweeter than a standard zin. This wine had an almost port taste butlighter. Good wine.
