We thoroughly enjoyed our Super Bowl Sunday this year…was our last feast before our veggie fast. Every combination of homemade guacamole you could think of, chicken wings, chicken nuggets (yes…straight from Mickey D’s- thanks Danie!), meatballs, chips of all kinds, chili served on corn waffles and of course freshly juiced Bloody Mary’s for all :0) … this was Mark’s treat!
5 full days of juicing is our goal!
What inspired us was the documentary “Fat, sick and nearly dead” — so the next day we went out and bought a Jack LaLanne juicer from Macy’s (they just happened to be having a HUGE sale on all their Juicers). Last week we dabble with different combination- Mark and I had our usual competition- and now we are on day 2 of juicing.
Due to our morning schedules, it is hard to put aside time to juice for the entire day for two people so I have been juicing in the evening. Last night, I made:
Green Juice
- 2 cucumbers
- 1 handfull of parsley
- 3 handfulls of fresh spinach
- 1 lemon
- 3 celery sticks
- 1″ piece of ginger root
- 2 green apples
Orange Glow Juice
- 7 carrots
- 2 oranges (peeled)
- 1/2 grapefruit (peeled)
- 12 strawberries
- 1″ piece of ginger root
Red Juice
- 1 beet
- 1/2 grapefruit (peeled)
- 1 orange (Peeled)
- 3 carrots
- 1″ piece of ginger root
Bottoms up! Will keep you posted on our progress…and if anyone sees Mark eating a PB&J sandwich at lunch, feel free to tattle :0)

Those juices look really good. I’ve been thinking of doing a juice fast myself and have heard about the Jack Lalanne juicer, but then I have heard that others like the Omega or Green Star are better? I came across this review that speaks highly of the Jack Lalanne: http://www.charlottesvineyard.com/jack-lalanne-juicer-review/ but still unsure which one to go with.
We just like Jack 😉
Wondering if you used a raw beet or one that you roasted in the oven…
I actually used raw beets…no need to use roast them when juicing as you want all the nutrients possible. Just be careful not to get any beet juice on you…messy :0)
Thanks for beet info. Looked your site up after seeing y’all on House Hunters last night. Glad the condo worked out. I like your decorating style. Happy Easter from Nashville!
